General correspondence, memoranda, policy papers, bibliographies, legislation, minutes, reports, and other materials regarding the early history and expansion of exchange programs of the Division of Cultural Relations, the predecessor of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Some materials concern early CU officials, including Ben M. Cherrington, Lawrence Duggan, Stephen Duggan, and Edward G. Trueblood. Other files pertain to General Advisory Committee meetings for the years 1940-1943. Operating from 1938 to 1946, the committee included the president of the Institute of International Education, presidents of national research councils, senior officers of major private educational agencies, and the commissioner of the U.S. Office of Education.
