INFORMATION ABOUT THE COLLECTION

The Engels-Kinnibrugh Family Papers contain letters and papers pertaining to the Engels-Kinnibrugh families of Farmington, Washington County, Arkansas.  NOTE: For detailed biographical information see the finding aid for The Engels-Kinnibrugh Family Papers (MC 554).

Most of the letters were written between 1859 and 1930 to William H. Engels and his family descendants  by Abraham Allen Engels, the brother, Jane Engels, the sister, and their family members.  William H. Engels' personal papers (1841-1916) comprise legal documents, agreements, a warranty deed, and invoices. The other papers (1824-1938) contained in this collection pertain to the Kinnibrough family and consist of  letters, invoices, receipts, an insurance policy, bank statements, land certificates, and a last will.  There are also papers (1904-1941) pertaining to Albert and Bertha Engels Gaskill.  These include a marriage license, an insurance policy, legal documents, tax receipts, bills of sale, and other papers.  The James F. and Alice Engels Broyles papers (1935-1946) include a marriage license, letters, and other papers. Another group of papers (1871-1966) relates to Henry N. Engels and Russell R. and Clara Broyles, who were  postmasters of  the Farmington, Arkansas, Post Office.
