Subseries 1 General Files, ca 1956-1974

Consists of material largely routine in nature, e.g. correspondence with the United States Senate Sergeants of Arms about various office matters; lists of the members of the Senator’s office staff; duty assignments and job descriptions of office clerks; memos on volume and nature of mail from Arkansas constituents; lists of Senate officers and employees; office equipment inventories, etc. Included also are requests to fill various questionnaires; invitations; even schedules and itineraries; notes on business meetings and speaking engagements.

      Subseries 4 Office Memos, 1955-1974

      Consists of memoranda between Fulbright and his administrative assistants concerning the Arkansas State matters such as the Beaver Dam, Bull Shoals, Pea Ridge National Military Park, Buffalo River, and Fort Smith Historic Site, budget requests for miscellaneous projects in the state, and analysis of Arkansas constituent correspondence regarding various issues; national political, economic, and social issues such as disposal of surplus federal property to state and local governments and Congressional nominations.  This subseries also contains memos on Senate’s daily business; agendas of upcoming Senate meetings and hearings; briefings on the passage of Senate bills and the bills’ synopsis; Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Banking and Currency Committee agendas; suggestions to Fulbright regarding his Senate floor statements; memos on phoned-in requests and invitations; memos on meeting/conference reports attended by the Senator’s staff members; and messages of appreciation from Senator’s colleagues.  Contained also is a document “Notes on Fourth British-American Parliamentary Conference, Hamilton, Bermuda, February 10-15, 1964 (13:1)
