The Panel of American Women is a voluntary group of women representing various racial, religious, and ethnic groups. The purpose of the Panel was to communicate an awareness of the effect of prejudice on every American. The first Panel of American Women, formed by Esther Brown in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1963, evolved from an earlier Panel of Americans, which began in Kansas City in 1957 and appeared on many college campuses. The Little Rock Panel was organized in 1963 and incorporated and chartered in 1964.
