Minutes, Yearbooks, and Scrapbook, 1928-1973

Papers pertaining to the Petentes Women's Club of Little Rock were donated to Special Collections by Ellen Shipley of Fayetteville, Arkansas, May 15, 1988.
The Petentes Women's Club was founded January 24, 1912 by five Little Rock women led by Mrs. John King. The club was originally intended to be a social and literary organization, and a portion of each meeting was devoted to the discussion of an educational topic usually pertaining to literature, history, or current events. The club also participated in civic activities, concentrating on charitable and educational works. Its final meeting was held May 24, 1973.
The papers encompass expense records, minutes, attendance records, a scrapbook, yearbooks, and various club papers including a club history and copies of a few of the educational programs presented by club members.
