This project was undertaken in 2003-04 by Michael Lindsey, a graduate student who was completing a master’s thesis in history at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Lindsey’s interviews focused on the history of the Arkansas State Police, especially from the founding of the agency in 1935 to 2000. A total of 60 interviews are included.
The interviews formed the basis for a book titled The Big Hat Law: Arkansas and Its State Police, 1935-2000, published by the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies in Little Rock.
