Mission
The mission of the Acquisitions Department (Books) is to support the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, academic curriculum and research by acquiring and receiving library materials in all formats for the University Libraries. These materials will be acquired in a timely and cost effective manner and processed quickly to facilitate their use by the University community. Gifts will be processed following policies established by University Libraries and the University of Arkansas Development Office. Information about the library's collection and statistical data will be provided to support collection assessment and to assist in determining collection management policies. Business transactions, fund accounting, and financial reporting will be managed efficiently and accurately to attain optimal financial discounts for University Libraries. The Ordering and Receiving subsystem of the library's integrated online database will be managed effectively to provide accurate and timely data and facilitate patron access to library materials. In pursuance of these objectives the Acquisitions Department (Books) seeks to maximize the potential of new technology and other resources and to maintain the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and service.
