WorldCat is a union catalog of almost 150 million items in libraries worldwide. Use WorldCat to locate books, entire journals, dissertations and theses, videos, audio recordings, manuscript materials, and other publication types. Items identified in WorldCat may often be borrowed from owning libraries using the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan service.

WorldCat.org is a developing interface that provides facets to limit your search to certain subject areas, formats, authors, or other criteria. Worldcat.org attempts to cluster multiple versions or editions of the same work together to make reviewing results sets easier. In addition, Worldcat.org offers social bookmarking functions, the ability to save bibliographies to a personalized account, and a "Cite This" function that generates citations in MLA, APA, Turabian and other formats. Worldcat.org indicates library holdings by distance from your zip code. WorldCat Classic, on the FirstSearch platform, offers the greatest flexibility in precise searching, limiting by format, and sorting and saving large result sets to citation managers such as RefWorks.
