1. If there is no announcement made by the University on any given day indicating that the University is closed or that it is an "inclement weather day," you should report to work at the regular time, or use annual leave for the time you are not here on that day. 2. If it is announced on any given day that the University is closed, you should not come to work. The library will also be closed. 3. If it is announced by the University that classes have been cancelled but that the University offices will remain open, the library will also be open. 4. If it is announced that the University is open but that it is an "inclement weather" day, if you report to work within two hours of the time you are normally expected to be at work, you will not be charged annual leave for the amount of time within that two hours that you did not work. However, employees arriving later will be charged the full amount of time involved in their tardiness, and employees not coming to work will be charged a full day's absence. Individuals designated to open the library or service desks should notify the departmental supervisors immediately if the two-hour inclement weather leave will be needed so that others may be called to cover services if necessary. 5. If the University and Library are open under the "inclement weather policy" and these conditions worsen throughout the day, the library may close early to allow employees who work the evening shift to get home safely. This time will not be charged to annual leave for appointed staff. Hourly staff, however, will be allowed to make up the time lost at a later date. 6. If it becomes necessary to close the library for inclement weather when classes are not in session or when University Offices are not normally open, such as Saturday or Sunday, appointed staff will not have the time charged to annual leave. However, hourly staff will be allowed to make up the time at a later date. NOTE: You can discover whether or not the University has been declared closed or whether the University has announced that a day is an inclement weather day by calling 575-2000 or the University weather "hotline": 575-7000; or you can access the following Web site for information: http://advancement.uark.edu/info/weather.html. You can also determine whether or not the library is closed by calling 5-4101 for a message posted on the library's voice mail system. Last modified: Thursday, April 20, 2006 |
