Finding aids and Descriptions
A finding aid describes the arrangement and contents of a
manuscript collection so that a user can find information
more efficiently. More than 900 manuscript collections are
described on this site, either by a finding aid or by some
other description. At present, other collections are accessible
only through typewritten finding aids in the Special Collections
reading room. However, as time and resources permit, these
are being converted to electronic format and published at
this site. Meanwhile, interested researchers should contact
the division for further information about collections.
