Manuscript Collection 1397
The American Association of University Women is the oldest and largest
national organization working for education and the advancement of women.
Founded in 1881 as the Association of Collegiate Alumnae, it merged with
the Western Association of Collegiate Alumnae in 1889 and with the Southern
Association of Collegiate Women in 1921. Membership is open to any
woman with a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college
or university.
The scrapbooks contain constitution and by-laws, announcements, programs, reports, financial statements and budgets, newsletters, bulletins, and newspaper clippings pertaining to the Fayetteville Branch of the AAUW, the Southwest Central Region, and the National Association. The scrapbooks also contain photographs documenting various activities and events organized by the members to raise funds for miscellaneous sponsorships.
Note: The scrapbooks were disassembled in order to better facilitate the preservation of the photographs. The original order of the contents of the scrapbooks was maintained as much as possible.
