Biographical Note

Harriet Bailey Bullock Daniel was born in 1849 to Charles Lewis Bullock, a member of a large and distinguished planter family in Warren County (now Vance County), North Carolina, and Sara Jane Shapard. She was born in Manchester Township in then Dallas County, Arkansas, but by the time she left in 1872 Manchester Township had been re-annexed by Clark County. She married Nathaniel Beverly Daniel in 1872 and moved with him to his family plantation “Tranquility” near Oxford, North Carolina. Harriet and Nathaniel had at least one child, Alice Goodridge Daniel. Harriet Bailey Bullock Daniel died in 1934.

This collection was originally sent to Margaret Jones Bolsterli by Dr. Bailey Webb for research for her book A Remembrance of Eden.
