The two photographs were originally in possession of Lieutisha Wilcox Enfield, who was born in Indiana in 1847. She grew up on a farm near Springfield, Illinois, and moved with her family to Kansas in 1899. A mother of nine, she placed high emphasis on her children's education. One of her sons became a well-known lawyer in Iola.
Included are two original carte-de-visite photographs of president Abraham Lincoln and General William T. Sherman. Both photographs are inscribed on verso by donor's grandmother, Lieutisha Wilcox Enfield.
