INFORMATION ABOUT THE COLLECTION

Special Collections acquired these papers from Alina Fernandez of Arlington, Texas on December 4, 1989.
 
The collection consists of papers of refugee service organizations pertaining to the Cuban refugees from Mariel, Cuba, known as the "Marielitos";  correspondence and information concerning Cuban refugees in California, Florida, and Costa Rica; questionnaires and interviews with the Cuban refugees; correspondence of Gaston A. Fernandez (son of Gaston Fernandez: see MC 870); and census-related statistics and clippings.
