Manuscript Collection 1137
The Graves family owned a peach-farming operation in Johnson County from the early twentieth century through the 1950s. Irwin Graves inherited the original orchard from his father, which came to be known as the Mountain Valley Orchard. The papers show how the farm was financed, especially during the Great Depression and includes transactions with the Federal Land Bank and commercial banks, mortgage and loan records, and records pertaining to the Ozark Fruit Growers Association.
Personal records include poll tax receipts, insurance policies, daily expense records and Odd Fellows records for 1910.
The collection consists of correspondence, personal and business records, and a few photographs.
Processed by Ellen Compton, Special Collections Division, University of Arkansas Libraries, Fayetteville, Arkansas, in October 2001.
