Personal Papers, ca 1912-1928
Manuscript Collection 1439
The material in the collection, pertaining to the life of America Hamilton Mattix, comprises family and official correspondence, a diary (ca 1914-1928), teacher licenses and contracts (ca 1924-1928), loose pages with pasted newspaper/magazine clippings mostly of poems with a few handwritten notes, Home Economics class notes, a photocopy of Mattix's 1915 class picture, a photograph of Valley View Hall of Honor Inductee plaque, and other papers. The collection further contains papers of Esther Mattix Wilson (America Hamilton Mattix's sister-in-law ?) as well as papers of Mattix's brother, Charles G. Hamilton.
The America Hamilton Mattix Papers were donated to Special Collections by Janice Mattix, Jonesboro, Arkansas, on December 9, 1999.
