Academic Records, 1951-1993

The Academic Records are those kept by Jones in his office at the University of Arkansas School of Architecture. They illustrate his distinguished career as an educator and speaker. Files on early employment and a few architectural projects ca. 1950 are also in the records.

Correspondence, Classroom, and Administrative Files, 1951-1958

Correspondence includes letters about Jones’s early academic experiences and his early work experiences. There is information about licenses, memberships, earliest projects, and the essay, “House of the Ozarks. Class topics include design problems and architectural history. Also included are files on other architects that Jones used in class presentations. Administrative files include early proposals for an architectural program at the University of Arkansas. Class grade books are restricted.

A list of lecture titles, arranged chronologically, was created by Jones’s staff. However, text and notes do not exist for every lecture listed. Of special interest are versions of what Jones referred to as “The Core Lecture.” Also included are various versions of a lecture titled, “Borrowings and Lendings,” various lectures on Frank Lloyd Wright, commencement addresses, introductions, and fragments and notes. The correspondence is directly related to speaking engagements and is arranged chronologically.
