DAVID HAMPTON PRYOR PAPERS, 1934-2004

Group I, Series 1. Early Political Career, 1959-1974 (Boxes 1-10)

This series consists of materials spanning the period 1959 to 1974. Materials are related to Senator Pryor's work with the Ouachita Citizen, his tenure as a member of the Arkansas General Assembly state and the United States House of Representatives, his 1972 Senatorial campaign, and his activities before being elected governor in 1974. Materials related to Senator Pryor's childhood and education are located in Group 3, Series 1. Scrapbooks and newspaper clippings from this period are located in Group 3, Series 3. Photographs and audio-visual materials from this period are located in Group IV, Series 1 and 2.Materials pertaining to Senator Pryor's 1974 gubernatorial campaign are in Group I, Series 3, Subseries 5. Original copies of the Ouachita Citizen dating from 1957-1962 are located in Group IV, Series 3, Subseries 2. Three scrapbooks pertaining to his investigation of nursing homes ca. 1970-1971 are located in Group IV, Series 3, Subseries 3.

Subseries 1. Ouachita Citizen and State Legislature

This subseries includes materials related to Pryor's activities as editor of the Ouachita Citizen newspaper and as a member of the Arkansas General Assembly. Issues of the Ouachita Citizen are available in Group IV, Series 3, Subseries 2.
