Currently enrolled UA Fayetteville students and currently appointed faculty and staff may:
Remote users, such as:
- Distance Education students in UA Fayetteville classes
- Clinton School of Public Affairs students
- Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Experiment Station faculty and staff
- Archaeological Survey faculty and staff
have all the privileges listed in the preceding paragraph and may request that materials in the UA Fayetteville Libraries be sent to them by using our InterLibrary Loan form.
To be eligible for library privileges and remote access to library resources, students must be enrolled in at least one hour of credit or be pre-registered for the following semester. (Graduate Student Handbook,"Use of Electronic Resources of the Library").
Students who wish to retain library privileges for a short time while they complete theses or other academic requirements may be granted "Affiliate" status in the ISIS student information system by their college or the Graduate School. Students seeking such extensions must appeal to the appropriate college or school office. Extensions and length of time granted are determined by academic departments, colleges, and the Graduate School, not by the library.
Once an extension is approved, and the student record has been updated in ISIS, the student will then need to request short-term reinstatement of library privileges at the Main Circulation Desk in Mullins Library or by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org. Circulation staff will confirm the student's Affiliate status in ISIS and update the student's record in the Libraries' online system. Affiliate status requires the use of the last name and the nine-digit University ID number to log into one's library account or into databases and electronic resources.
Students, faculty, and staff from other Arkansas colleges and universities participating in the ARKLink Reciprocal Borrowing Program may apply for borrowing privileges. Visit the ARKLink web site for a list of participating institutions.
Nonaffiliated persons may apply for community borrowing privileges by completing an Application for Library Privileges. (For details, see our Policy for Community Borrowers). Because of vendor licensing agreements, remote access to library subscription resources is only available to current students, faculty, and staff. However, community borrowers and visitors are welcome to use most electronic resources while in the library building.
The following list borrowing privileges for various patron types and circulating items in the MAIN (Mullins) Library collection. Check with Fine Arts, Performing Arts and Media, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Physics, and Law for policies specific to those collections.

Researchers and community members who are not currently enrolled students or full-time appointed faculty and staff of the University of Arkansas may apply for community borrower privileges. For details, see our Policy for Community Borrowers. Depending on user status (for example: alumnus, visiting faculty, continuing graduate student), some charges may apply. Note that community borrowing privileges do not include remote access to library databases or electronic journals.
To apply for library privileges, please print out and complete our Application For Circulation Privileges form. Please include any appropriate fees (check or credit/debit card only) and a *copy* of a photo ID, such as a state-issued driver's license or student ID card, and EITHER submit the form with payment in person to the Circulation Desk, OR mail it with payment (check ONLY) to:

A patron may be automatically blocked from checking out materials if he/she:
- has reached the maximum number of checkouts
- has one or more billed items
- has overdue recalled items
- has reached the maximum fine limit
- is not currently enrolled in classes or employed by the University
Most current students, faculty and staff will use their UARK email username and password to log into various library functions, including:
- obtaining remote access to databases and electronic journals
- accessing to electronic course reserves
- viewing your own library account of checkouts, holds, fines, and saved searches
- placing holds and recalls
Your UARK Account is your official University of Arkansas Email username and password. This is the same username and password that you currently use for email, campus computing labs, Blackboard, AskIT, BASIS, and other campus systems.
What if I don't know or use my UARK account?
What if I use a walton.uark.edu account?
Unfortunately, this system works only with the campus uark.edu user names and passwords. If you have forgotten your UARK username and password, see the next section for help with retrieving them.
What if I have forgotten my UARK password or username?
The Password Manager tool allows you to set up a reminder question and answer. If you don't have a reminder question and answer, or if you have forgotten the question and answer:
- On-Campus students, faculty, and staff should bring a photo ID to one of these locations:
- Distant students who can't visit the Registrar's Office in person must send a written request with your signature and a phone number where you can be reached for confirmation to:
Office of the Registrar
146 Hunt Hall, University of Arkansas
Fayetteville AR 72701
You may also send your written request with your signature and a phone number where you can be reached for confirmation by FAX to (479) 575-4651.
Anyone can contact the Help Desk at email@example.com, (479) 575-2905, for more assistance.
What if I am affiliated with the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture, but don't have a UARK Account?
Researchers with the Arkansas Agricultural Extension Service or the Experiment Station System may apply for affiliated faculty privileges. This status allows patrons borrowing privileges, remote access to library databases and electronic journals, and Interlibrary Loan privileges.
If you are a faculty or staff member in the Arkansas Agricultural Extension Service or the Experiment Station System and already have applied for library privileges, you can still use your last name and UA ID number to log into library functions, including remote access to library databases.
If you have not yet applied for library privileges, visit our Agriculture Extension Service / Experiment Station information page for details on applying.
What if I am a community borrower and have a library card, but don't have a UARK account?
Community borrowers, alumni, and other users who have borrowing privileges but not UARK email accounts will still be able to view their library accounts, view and renew checkouts, and place holds on items by logging in with their last name and University of Arkansas ID number. Community and Alumni borrowers generally do not have remote access to library databases and electronic journals.
Will anyone with a UARK account be able to access library databases remotely?
No. Licensing agreements with publishers generally limit remote access to current students, faculty, and staff only. Other users are welcome to access library databases and electronic journals while in the library building.
